An effective project team performance is the main pillar for the successful achievement of the project team objectives.

The team’s performance is directly related to the methodology and management applied, which are essential for the success of each project developed in the organization. To achieve this end, a project team must:

> rely on professionals with expertise in three major pillars: 1) Management, 2) Leadership and 3) Technical matters;

> value three essential attributes: dynamic professionals, circular performance and professional responsibility;

₋ Dynamic professionals should be highly energized and concentrated, and have the adequate abilities to fulfill the responsibilities assigned to their role.

₋ The circular performance includes three critical success variables: strategy, cohesion and personality.

•  The strategy sets out how the project team is grouped and works; it is conveyed through the team structure and must be aligned to the project strategy.

•  The cohesion integrates and consolidates the project team, achieving accurate performance through a continuous flow of communication.

• The personality enables the team to face the planned activities and the resolution of problems with determination and self confidence.

₋ Professional responsibility means that all the professionals should disseminate their values, those of the organization and their knowledge of the practice of Project Management to the entire ecosystem of the organization. In addition, it allows all members of the project team to achieve an efficient social performance.

These axes and attributes enable the team to achieve greater cohesion and higher efficiency; they provide identity, strength and management capabilities, and insight into what to do at each step of the project, solving potential conflicts.

From a broader perspective, if the project team is built on the appropriate axes and attributes, it will ensure an effective performance, will have a positive impact on the organization and, most importantly, it will drive the project towards the fulfillment of its objectives.
